Medchal, India: The Claret Youth Festival, a three-day spiritual expedition for young people organized by the Province of Bangalore, took place from October 8th to 10th, 2024 at St. Claret School, Medchal, India. The three-day event, held under the theme “Embracing Faith, Leadership, and Community”, brought together 450 young participants from various centres across the province The event aimed to inspire participants to embrace faith, leadership, and community service.
The festival began with a joyful evening of dance and music. The following day, Fr. Mathew Pottemparampil, CMF emphasized the importance of nurturing faith and witnessing to it in daily life. Fr. Sabu George, CMF the Provincial Superior, hoisted the Claret flag and administered the oath, encouraging the youth to commit to a life rooted in faith, leadership, and service. Rev. Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF the Superior General, addressed the youth virtually, highlighting the significance of unity and diversity within the Church.
The second day focused on leadership. Frs. Chinanna and Martin T., CMFF led a faith and worship session, followed by an orientation on leadership. Mr. Cyril Joseph motivated the youth to dream big and serve others. In the afternoon, the youth participated in a “Run for Jesus” marathon and a cultural performance.
The third day’s theme was “Embracing Community.” A panel discussion explored vocation, community living, and service. Fr. George Kannanthanam, CMF encouraged the youth to take initiatives for community betterment, citing examples of young world leaders. Fr. Siby Eravimangalam, CMF urged the youth to contribute their talents to the upliftment of others.
The final Eucharist presided by Fr. Rajashekar Reddy, CMF concluded the festival. Fr. Martin T., CMF encouraged the youth to have a clear vision and grow towards their goals. The youth took the Pledge of Commitment to Faith, Leadership, and Service. In his closing remarks, Fr. Sabu George, CMF expressed happiness at the event and encouraged the youth to apply the lessons learned in their parishes.
The event, organized by Fr. Jaipaul Thumma, the prefect of youth and vocation ministry in province of Bangalore, saw the participation and collaboration of many associated in Claretian Ministry. Gathering together from different centres, the youth themselves were glad that they are part of Claret Youth.
