The third and final day of the retreat of our chapter community continues its course, animated by the two Chapter facilitators, Sr. Jolanta Kafka, rmi and Fr. Paulson Veliyannoor, cmf. Their presence is a novelty in the history of our General Chapters, since both, besides directing these days of retreat, will accompany the Chapter assembly at different times, serving as catalysts in the many works, conversations and moments of discernment that will be faced during the days. Together with them, the Chapter is grateful for the good work of four translators: two from Spanish to English, Fr. Efren Limpo Lo (Province of the Philippines) and Fr. Anthony Igbokwe (Province of Santiago), and two from English to Spanish, Fr. Fermín Rodríguez (Province of Fátima) y Fr. Francisco San Martín (Province of San José del Sur). Beyond the difficulties generated by the question of languages, we are getting to know each other more and more deeply, since the prayerful dynamic of these first days of retreat is marked by group meetings, dialogues in pairs and various community echoes of what we are living, especially through the liturgical celebrations. And we are fine-tuning the way of sharing also with those who are not physically present at the Ad Gentes Center in Nemi, where our XXVI General Chapter is taking place.
A group of capitulars formed by some Claretians coming from India, Sri Lanka, Congo, Brazil, Peru-Bolivia, and Colombia-Venezuela, who could not arrive in Rome before the 15th of this month for reasons derived from the pandemic, have had the opportunity to participate these days in the development of the Chapter thanks to the informatic platforms foreseen for this purpose and according to the dispositions issued by the Holy See in this regard. We sincerely hope that all of them will finally manage to be present in this corner of the earth and will be able to give us their smiles beyond the screen. Those who have been able to do so in recent days (Brazil, Colombia-Venezuela, Peru-Bolivia), after passing the mandatory quarantine in their rooms, are enriching the landscape of our assembly, whose definitive composition is detailed at the end of these lines.
Now that our spiritual triduum is coming to an end, freshly awakened like the women on Easter morning, the seventy-eight members of the chapter community carry in our hearts the joys and hopes, the sorrows and anguish of the nearly three thousand Claretians scattered throughout the world and of all the people of good will with whom we are making our way. With all humility, we believe that the Lord calls us to intercede for all, to converse with all, to suffer with all, to serve all, to strive for all. As Claret wanted, his missionaries continue to desire to burn to enlighten, and thus pray, work, and suffer for the greater glory of God and the salvation of his people.
