West Nigeria Independent Delegation Annual Retreat

Oct 20, 2019 | West Nigeria

Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria. It was yet another joyful moment for the members of West Nigeria Independent Delegation as they gathered at the Claretian Postulate House in Ijebu-Ode to hold their annual retreat. Twenty-six members came together on October 14 to 18, 2019 for the wonderful retreat moderated by the Bishop Emeritus of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Fagun.

The octogenarian bishop who never showed any sign of tiredness despite his age never mince words in his usual demeanor as an educator to take the retreatants through the mission of their call as religious in the Church. He focused on the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity and touched on the topic of the vows and prayer life. His sense of humor couched with proverbial sayings thrilled everyone and made the retreat an interesting moment all throughout the retreat.

At the end of the retreat, the members used the opportunity to celebrate a feast for their silver jubilarians for this year – Frs. Michael Eke and Rebecca Igirigi Ofor, CMFF, who celebrated their 25 years of priestly ordination; and Br. Isaiah Olarewaju, CMF, 50 years. They also celebrated the farewell party for Fr. Jean Anakou, CMF, a missionary from Congo Independent Delegation who is returning back to Congo after spending years in West Nigeria.
