Rome, Italy. Around 130 people participated from February 10 to 14, 2025, in a workshop focused on deepening the understanding of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) and its contribution to systemic transformation in the context of the Jubilee Year. The event, available both online and in person in Rome, gathered participants from five continents in twenty well-prepared and structured sessions, featuring speakers with extensive knowledge and experience. The workshop was meticulously organized by the JPIC Commission, encouraged by the men’s and women’s unions of general superiors (UISG-USG).
The first day was dedicated to the biblical and spiritual foundations of the commitment to Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). Subsequent sessions explored systemic approaches to transformation, methodologies for analyzing reality, and the discernment of actions and commitments. Several sessions focused on advocacy work and the organization of groups, offices, and resources.
Theoretical insights were combined with moments of discussion, dialogue, and prayer. The meaning of the Jubilee served as a unifying theme, connecting many interventions that addressed current global challenges. Special emphasis was given to Pope Francis’ call for the cancellation of financial and ecological debts. Four well-curated panel discussions, featuring voices from different continents, provided insights into concrete experiences, processes, and tools.

The event welcomed a diverse group of speakers, including laypeople, members of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, religious from about twelve congregations, and representatives from institutions such as Caritas Internationalis, CAFOD, Talitha Kum, the Jesuit Refugee Service, the Churches and Mining Network, and the Laudato Si’ Movement.
Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, Superior General and Co-President of the UISG-USG JPIC Commission, attended almost the entire workshop, joined online by several members of the Congregation’s SOMI General Team and other Claretians. Fr. Antonio Llamas, CMF, JPIC General Secretary, participated in person.
The JPIC Commission has scheduled a series of online meetings in February and March to strengthen the coordination of consecrated life in the areas of Social Justice, Mission, and Integral Ecology (SOMI) across different continents. The General Prefecture of Apostolate has invited major organisms to encourage the participation of pastoral coordinators in areas such as apostolate, SOMI, education, and health ministry.
