Guatemala City: From 14 to 17 February, the annual Meeting of Local Superiors of the Province of Centroamérica was held at the Claret Centre in Guatemala City. Twenty-four missionaries from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama were present. The members of the Provincial Government, the Superiors of the communities, and the Secretaries of the Apostolate were invited.
Fr. Ismael Montero, cmf., Provincial Superior, presented the motto of this meeting: “We exercise the service of authority in a synodal, responsible and transparent way” (Cf. QC 57 b; 58), in the context of the recent XXVI General Chapter and the 100 years of Claretian presence in Central America.
Within the dynamics of the meeting, all were invited to have a special moment of active listening to each superior, to visualize the journey of each one of the communities, and to note down those relevant themes that have repercussions in the discernment and dynamism of the Province. Likewise, updating the Central American Plan of Action (PACA), according to the guidelines of the General Chapter, was put in everyday and analyzed. Proposals were made for its application in the communities.
The whole meeting was lived in an atmosphere of fraternity and prayer. We also took advantage of the proximity to the parishes of San Antonio María Claret, Santa María de Jesús, and Corazón de María de Ciudad Peronia to share with the parishioners in a spirit of listening and celebrating their dreams and projects in evangelization.
The Superiors Meeting culminated with gratitude for what was evaluated and discerned and for the commitments of animation that they carry towards the communities.
