An Extraordinary Assembly in St. Joseph Vaz Independent Delegation – Sri Lanka took place on the 15th and 16th of November 2022. It was presided over by the General Econome Fr. Manuel Tamargo. The assembly focused on developing a self-sustainability plan for the Delegation which is into its fourth year as a major organism.
The first day was dedicated to dealing with themes related to the Claretian way of managing economy. Also, the Delegation Econome Fr. Satheesh Savarimuthu presented an overview report on the economic realities of the Delegation.
The second day was dedicated to working on the initial ideas about evolving the self-sustainability plan. In his concluding address, the Major Superior Fr. Joseph Jeyaseelan highlighted the significance of this assembly, and the assembly celebrated a few months back with Fr. General as the president. He also emphasized how important it is for all the members to make the commitment to own up the orientations coming from these two assemblies. Fr. Tamargo was on a 10-day visit to Sri Lanka and the assembly was held during the last two days of his visit.
