Medellín, Colombia. The University of Antioquia, through its Department of Cultural Extension, honored the recognized movie critic, Colombian Claretian Fr. Luis Alberto Álvarez, CMF, on the 16th anniversary of his death.
On this occasion, this past May 23rd, in the main auditorium of the University, premiered a documentary film in his honor entitled: “Luis Alberto Álvarez, an intensive spectator” authored by journalist Ronal Castañeda.
Fr. Luis Alberto, who died in 1996, is described in the synopsis of the documentary by his relationship to the big screen. The testimonies of those who knew him are reconstructing his history and his passions: music, pedagogy and a keen Christian sense of life. “Passions that are read in his columns of movies that were loved and hated, admired and criticized; but among those who knew him best in defining his craft: to be an intensive spectator”.
Fr. Javier Pulgarín, CMF, Superior of the Province of Colombia-Venezuela, Fr. Guillermo Vázquez, CMF, and Mrs. Angélica Maria Chica, Director of the Claretian Provincial Library of Medellín, who valuably contributed to the realization of the documentary were present at the tribute.
