Yaoundé, Cameroon. From March 1 to 14, 2023, a leadership training session was conducted in Yaoundé. The session brought together all the Major Superiors of Claretians in Africa and their Council members. After that training, participants resolved to continue it within their respective Major Organisms. As a result, the Independent Delegation of Cameroun introduced this leadership training during their delegation’s annual spiritual retreat in October 2023.
In February 2024, training sessions were conducted across different regions of Cameroon, namely Center, Littoral/Southwest, North, and West/Northwest. These sessions were conducted under the guidance of members of the Council of the Independent Delegation of Cameroun. In the Central region, Fathers Théophile Parfait Yené, Honoré Méli Kenfack, and Jean Augustin Nkoto, CMFF, facilitated the sessions in two phases – the first in Abang-Mindi and the second in Ekali. In the Littoral/Southwest region, Fathers Frédéric Kpoumié and Moise Moumassou, CMFF, facilitated the encounter at the Saint John Mary Vianney Parish in Beedi. In the West/Northwest region, Fathers Conrad Atangana Essomba and Frédéric Kpoumié, CMFF, served as facilitators, with the event taking place at the Saint Kisito Parish in Pekwa. Lastly, in the Northern region, Fathers Martin Ndi Nkoumou and Conrad Atangana Essomba, CMFF, expertly led sessions at the Saint Anthony Mary Claret Parish in Sakdje.
Participants have expressed great satisfaction with the intensive work sessions, noting significant personal growth that allows them to mentor others effectively. They have pledged to promote a culture of discernment at all levels of apostolic life and to implement this experience within their respective communities. This is particularly important among student communities to equip young Claretians with the necessary skills to emerge as competent leaders after their initial formation.
