From July 7 to 16, 2024, the city of Vic will host the Spirituality Congress, an event that commemorates the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation. This gathering brings together around eighty Claretian missionaries from all over the world and promises to be an enriching experience not only for the participants but for the entire Congregation.
The primary objective of the Congress is to stimulate a “conversation” about missionary spirituality, revitalizing this essence with the power of the Holy Spirit. Throughout the event, the aim is to gratefully remember these 175 years, update the missionary spirituality, and revitalize Claretian missionaries both personally and communally.
The chosen methodology for the Congress is based on generative conversations, a synodal and narrative approach, appreciative and discerning. These sessions seek to harmonize theory and practice, the local and the universal, turning the days into a lived and shared experience of spirituality.
The Congress program will be developed in three main stages: Where do we come from? Where are we now? and Where are we going? Topics such as the history of Claretian spirituality, current challenges, and new perspectives will be explored. Mornings will be dedicated to conferences and central themes, while afternoons will focus on practical workshops on various aspects of missionary spirituality.
The opening event will be the Eucharist presided by the Superior General, Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, starting at 9:00 a.m. on July 8.
Although the Congress is intended for Claretian missionaries, members of the Claretian Family and anyone else interested are invited to participate via streaming. Broadcasts will be available from nine in the morning until eight in the evening most days.
