Serving by Telling the Story of Our Master

Jun 1, 2018 | ASCLA East, Indonesia - Timor Leste, Ordinations

Kupang, Indonesia. Coinciding with the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on May 31, 2018, the Local Church of the Archdiocese of Kupang was filled with a profound joy of the deaconate and priestly ordinations. There were twelve scholastics for deaconate and twelve deacons for priestly ordination.

Among the twelve scholastics for the deaconate were five of our brothers, they are: Sch. Belarmino da Costa Oliviera, CMF; Sch. Eusabius Toda, CMF; Sch. Gregorius Berthon Mbete, CMF; Sch. Fredy Yohanes Mema Lana, CMF; and Sch. Guntherdius Jefry Nitbani, CMF.

In his homily, Archbishop Petrus Turang of the Archdiocese of Kupang, called the attention as well as encouraged the deacons and the newly ordained to root their life in the life of Christ, the Master himself. “Our pattern of following in this school of discipleship is Jesus himself,” said the archbishop.

In the evening, together with the family of the deacons, guests, and neighbouring religious and Claretian communities, they gathered for a simple thanksgiving gathering at the Seminari Hati Maria community. In his remark, Fr. Yohanes Maria Vianey Lusi Emi, CMF, Delegate Superior of Indonesia – Timor Leste, said that the Delegation and Congregation as well has been experiencing with so many blessings in her journey and mission, witnessing the Joy of the Gospel and telling the Story of our Master. And this is precisely one of the tasks as deacon, serving by telling the Story of our Master.
