The Claretian Missionary community in Cameroon has launched an initiative to copy the Bible with the aim of promoting peace. Under the Scriptura 2023 project, the Claretians invited young and old, lay and consecrated people of all beliefs to compete and pray with the Scriptures, with the trilogy PRAY-COPY-WIN. The Scriptura 2022 competition was held in two categories: Scriptura Senior and Scriptura Junior, with the participation of 172 competitors who copied the New Testament and the Gospel of Luke, respectively. The competition lasted nine months and after rigorous review, 72 potential winners were selected.
Gathered at Casa Claret Curia on January 19, 2023, after a novena to the Holy Spirit, six winners were randomly selected, three in each category, who received cash prizes and a Bible Diary. At the award ceremony, participants shared their testimonies about how the initiative changed their lives, with some reporting healing and strengthened faith.
The Major Superior, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, CMF, urged those present to be listeners, servants, and practitioners of the Word and thanked God for the success of the project and the benefactors who supported with cash prizes and other gifts. Special mention was made of the Fiat Mission, Kerala(India), for their significant support.
On February 22, 2023, Fr. Jude launched SCRIPTURA 2023, featuring three categories of competitors: Scriptura Senior, Scriptura Junior, and Scriptura for consecrated. The latter category includes postulants, novices, seminarians, religious men and women, and priests, who must memorize Bible verses word for word. The Claretian Missionary community hopes to continue touching many lives through their Bible Pastoral Ministry.
