Lima, Peru. The Spirituality House of Chaclacayo in Lima hosts, from the 27th of August 2023, the IV Assembly of Solidarity and Mission of the Claretian Missionaries of America.
The encounter gathers almost sixty people from the nine Claretian Organisms of the continent. About 25 Claretians (among them four Missionary Brothers), one Claretian Missionary Sister (RMI), one Missionary Sister of St. Anthony Mary Claret, two Lay Claretians and about 30 lay people, half of them women, are participating in it.
The assembly, aided by careful liturgical and prayerful moments, got to know a series of significant experiences of defence and care for life and the Earth and promoting justice.
Cardinal Pedro Barreto SJ, Archbishop of Huancayo and president of the Episcopal Conference of Amazonia held a crucial meeting with the participants on Tuesday, the 29th. The attendees included Fr. Marcos A. Loro, CMF – the president of MICLA, Fr. Pedro Belderrain, CMF – the General Prefect of Apostolate, and Fr. Gabriel Ponce, CMF – the SOMI Coordinator of the Claretian Province of Fatima. The meeting will also be graced by the presence of Fr. Rohan Dominic, CMF – the UN Team Coordinator, who will join later.
Representatives of other pastoral areas of MICLA participate in the Assembly: youth ministry, biblical animation, and service to the consecrated life…. Their presence enriches the dialogues in which migrants and displaced people, abused and marginalized women, victims of violence and injustice, and those affected by uncontrolled extractivism and abuse of the planet are very much present.
