Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea. Padre Xifré Independent Delegation celebrated its first Assembly on July 2 to 5, 2019 within the compound of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Mongomo, Episcopal See of Msgr. Juan Domingo Beká Esono Ayang, CMF. Father General, Mathew Vattamattam, CMF presided the Assembly. It is the General’s first official visit to the new Delegation that will turn one year old on July 16.
The Claretian Missionaries who work in the two countries that make up the Delegation: Gabon and Equatorial Guinea (53 Missionaries from 10 countries living in 13 intercultural communities), have met for the first time at the Basilica of La Inmaculada de Mongomo, to get to know each other, to think together about the missionary urgencies that are currently being raised in the reality of society and the Church of each mission country. They centered their sessions on the 3 processes of transformation that the XXV General Chapter pointed out: missionary life; community, economy, government and communication; formation and spirituality.
In communion with the whole Church they are invited to dream together the mission of the Church today: what do the new signs of the times ask of them? To answer this question they must insert themselves in the life of each local church where they evangelize from the identity of the charismatic features of the Congregation. During the Assembly it was possible to confirm the potential of the young Organism, composed mainly of young people.
Father General invited the members of the Delegation to live the synodality that responds to the desire to work in a shared mission.
