Bengaluru, India. On 27th January 2019 a one-day seminar on the theme, “Rejoice and Be Glad – Pope Francis’ Call for Holiness of Life” (Reflections on the Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate of Pope Francis) was held at at Claretian Seminary, Malleswaram. The seminar was arranged by Rev. Fr. Xavier Manavath, the Rector of Claretian Seminary, Malleswaram, Bangalore in collaboration with Sanyasa – Institute of Consecrated Life, Bangalore. It was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jacob Arakkal John, the President of Sanyasa and the Provincial Superior of Bangalore Province. Altogether, there were four presentations: “The Concept of Holiness and Its Significance for Consecrated Life” by Fr. Jose Cristo Rey G. Parades, CMF, Professor Emeritus of ITVR (Madrid, Spain); “Holiness as Practising the Beatitudes” by Fr.. Xavier Manavath, CMF, Rector of Claretian Seminary in Malleswaram; “Life of Holiness – A Constant Battle” by Sr. Jessy, SMMI, Provincial of SMMI Sisters of Bangalore Province; and finally “Pope Francis’s Call to Holiness in the Modern World” by Dr. A. Pusparajan, Professor of Eminence in Philosophy, Religion and Gandhian Thought.
The seminar came to an end at five in the afternoon with the Holy Eucharistic presided by Msgr. S. Jayanathan, Vicar General, Archdiocese of Bangalore. There were around 200 participants, both religious as well as lay faithful. The seminar was so enriching and enlightening that the participants appreciated and requested them to continue organizing this yearly seminar in the years to come.
