Wardha, India. The General Government granted consent to start the Novitiate Program at Claretian Ashram Wardha, Maharashtra, India, for the year 2020-2021. This special permission is granted because the postulants are not able to reach to Claret Bhavan, Carmelaram, Bangalore, due to the nationwide lockdown in India. The Novitiate program will be carried out under the guidance of Fr. Suresh Madappatt CMF until the novices can transfer to Carmelaram to continue their novitiate there.
In this line, on May 30, 2020, 16 novices started their Novitiate at Wardha, and two have entered the Novitiate at Carmelaram Wardha, making 18 novices for St. Thomas Province for the year 2020 – 2021.
On the following day, May 31, six students made their First Profession at Claret Bhavan in the hands of Fr. George Mattam, CMF, on behalf of the Provincial Superior of St. Thomas, who due to the lockdown was not able to be with them.
Likewise, twenty students renewed their vows at different communities as they were not able to reach to the Provincial Curia due to nationwide lockdown.
It was a moment of joy and thanksgiving to the Province of St. Thomas.
