Buenos Aires, Argentina. On December 13, 2023, Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Monsignor José María Baliña, who had recently been elected as the Bishop of Mar del Plata. The Pope then appointed Monsignor Gustavo Manuel Larrazábal CMF, who is 62 years old and is currently serving as the titular Bishop of Buslacena and Auxiliary Bishop of San Juan de Cuyo, as the new pastor of the Mar del Plata diocese.
On March 26, 2022, Msgr. Larrazábal was appointed as the titular bishop of Buslacena and auxiliary of San Juan de Cuyo. He received his episcopal ordination on June 18, 2022, at the UPCN Vóley Stadium in the capital of San Juan, from the local archbishop, Jorge Eduardo Lozano.
