Meeting of the Provincial Governments of Poland and Germany: Strengthening Claretian Collaboration

Feb 25, 2025 | Deutschland, Polska

Mühlberg/Elbe, Germany. From February 17 to 19, 2025, the Provincial Governments of Poland and Germany gathered in the historic town of Mühlberg on the Elbe for a three-day meeting aimed at renewing their commitment to closer collaboration. This encounter marked another step in their ongoing dialogue, which began after the 2015 General Chapter and continued with meetings in Wrocław (2017) and Warsaw (2019).

The discussions focused on evaluating past resolutions and re-planning cooperative efforts that had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent General and Provincial Chapters of 2021 and 2022. The meeting was enriched by the presence of Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, representing the General Government, who played a crucial role in guiding the discussions and fostering constructive dialogue.

A key highlight of the gathering was a personal sharing session where participants recounted the beginnings of their vocations. This deeply personal exchange fostered a sense of brotherhood, further strengthened by joint prayers in German, Polish, and English, symbolizing the unity between the two Provinces. Informal evening gatherings and shared meals also contributed to the spirit of fraternity.

On the second day, representatives from all prefectures presented their current activities, leading to the successful identification of joint initiatives. By the end of the day, a preliminary plan for future cooperation was outlined. Among the concrete decisions made was the scheduling of a Claretian gathering in Weißenhorn from May 25-28, 2026, along with meetings for Provincial Governments, students, youth ministry leaders, and cyber missionaries. Additionally, both Provinces reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration in areas such as SOMI, Claretian spirituality, and the biblical apostolate.

Despite linguistic and cultural differences, the meeting underscored the Provinces’ shared mission and deepened their bonds. Participants expressed gratitude to the organizers, particularly Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, and Fr. Rafał Orlowski, CMF, who provided translation
