Vic, Spain. The Economes Meeting of the Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (also known as Claretian Missionaries) was recently held in Vic, Barcelona from September 7 to 16, 2023. This event is organized by the General Prefecture of Economy and occurs every six years. Participants included Economes from the 31 Major Organisms of the Congregation (18 Provinces and 13 Delegations), as well as some members of the General Council of Economy.
At the meeting, they engaged in a comprehensive discussion on various aspects of economic management pertaining to the Congregation. The discourse encompassed a broad spectrum of topics ranging from fundamental principles to intricate details. With the DIVCSVA’s directives in mind, the primary objective was to establish a “Stable Patrimony.” This entails defining it at both the Major Organism and General Administration levels, aimed to be accomplished in the coming months.
Prior to the Encounter from September 4-6, a comprehensive training course was conducted for the newly appointed or elected Economes after the XXVI General Chapter who were attending the event. Additionally, a group of 13 individuals will be visiting the Provincial Administrations of Santiago (in Madrid) and Sanctus Paulus (in Barcelona) from September 17-20 to gain practical knowledge of their organizational structure.
Vic was chosen as the location for this Encounter to coincide with the 175th Anniversary of the Congregation’s founding. This provides the Economes with the opportunity to visit or revisit significant Claretian landmarks. It is a great privilege to be spending time in such a symbolic place for the Claretian Missionaries, near the resting place of the Founder, St. Anthony Mary Claret.
