Kolkata Delegation Holds Third Ordinary Assembly

Pandua, India. The Third Delegation Assembly of the Kolkata Independent Delegation was held from February 18-23, 2025, at the Holy Cross Retreat Center, Pandua. Under the theme “Mystics Enflamed in Mission,” the assembly focused on evaluating the past three years, planning for the future, and appointing new leadership. Presiding over the assembly was Br. Carlos Verga, CMF, the General Prefect of Youth and Vocation.

A key highlight of the assembly was the presentation of reports that provided a detailed overview of the delegation’s progress. Fr. Ponson Toppo, CMF, Delegation Secretary, delivered the Triennial Report, outlining governance, mission activities, and pastoral challenges. Meanwhile, Fr. Jini P., CMF, presented the Financial Report, offering insights into the delegation’s economic sustainability and future financial strategies.

Additionally, participants collaborated on the Triennial Document, which encapsulated the main discussions, resolutions, and commitments that will guide the delegation’s mission and activities in the coming years.

One of the most significant moments of the assembly was the announcement of the new Delegation Council for the term 2025-2028. The newly appointed leaders are:

  • Fr. Jini P., CMF – Econome & Consultor
  • Fr. Anim Prakash Indwar, CMF & Fr. Augustus Kujur, CMF – Consultors 

The transition of leadership was marked by a solemn oath-taking ceremony, during which Fr. Peter Johnson, CMF, officially assumed his role as Major Superior.

The assembly outlined several key priorities and commitments for the future:

  • Strengthening youth ministry, education, and mission expansion
  • Developing plans for financial sustainability and social apostolate
  • Ensuring governance transparency and community building
  • Finalizing the Triennial Document as a roadmap for future initiatives

The assembly concluded with an official closing by Br. Carlos Verga, CMF, followed by a Eucharistic celebration and a final vote of thanks by Fr. Ponson Toppo, CMF.

With a renewed spirit of commitment and unity, the Third Triennial Assembly reaffirmed the Kolkata Delegation’s dedication to the Claretian mission and its continued growth in service of the Church and society.
