JPIC Day Celebrated at St. Claret PU College, Bangalore

Bangalore, Inde. A leading objective of the Claretian education is to impart the basic human values of love, justice, compassion and peace in the younger generation.

To foster these values and to make the Claretian movement of JPIC’s (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation) objectives a reality, St. Claret P. U. College, Bangalore organized various programmes for the staff and students.

In the month of August, the college organized an outreach programme for the students to Sumanahalli Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre and SUPPORT, Care Centre for the HIV/AIDS affected. This provided the opportunity for the students to get it touch with the hard social realities around them. The students also made a token contribution towards a day’s meal for the inmates at Sumanahalli.

Another event was a fundraiser project for the midday meal programme at Barwadih, Jharkhand, one of the Claretian missions of the Province of Bangalore. A sum of Rupees three hundred thousand was collected by the staff and students through a lucky draw programme. Apart from collecting the fund for the charitable activities, the initiative was instrumental in creating social awareness among the staff and 900 students of the college.
To mark the culmination of these initiatives, a function was organized on December 10, 2012 on Human Rights Day in which Rev. Fr. Francis Kalampukatt; the Administrator was the Chief Guest.

The students and staff who made outstanding contributions for the fund raiser initiative were felicitated on the occasion.
