InCLA Holds First Convocation Ceremony in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria: The Institute of Consecrated Life in Africa (InCLA) held its first-ever Convocation on October 12, 2024, at its Abuja campus. The event began with a welcome address by the President of the Association of Consecrated Life in Africa (ACLA) and Chairman of the Governing Board of InCLA, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, CMF. Fr. Peter Okonkwo, CMF, the Director of InCLA, followed with a convocation address, while the Vicar General and Head of the Claretian Institute’s message was delivered by proxy.

One of the event’s key highlights was the maiden Convocation Lecture, delivered by the Irish Ambassador to Nigeria, Peter Ryan. Goodwill messages were shared by prominent figures, including the Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Abuja, Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, and other collaborators and friends of the institute.

The convocation also featured the conferment of certificates by the ACLA President, and a valedictory speech by Sister Geraldine Abraham of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Congregation, who was recognized as the Best Graduating Student. The Alumni Pledge was administered by the Dean of the Institute, Fr. Gregory Ezeokeke, CMF, to all graduates.

The event was attended by dignitaries from the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Veritas University, various Religious Congregations, priests, religious leaders, village chiefs, friends, and students of InCLA.
