Arezzo, Italy. Usually, the General Government takes a few days off before its intensive sessions in October to reflect and converse about matters of great import not only of the Congregation but also of ecclesiological concerns. From October 1–3, 2024, they stayed in the Franciscan friars’ La Verna Santuario Francescano delle Stimmate in Arezzo, Italy.
The General Government pondered and talked about the Instrumentum Laboris from the second session of the Synod on Synodality as a matter of ongoing formation. Likewise, they made the most of their chance to celebrate with the Franciscan friars’ triduum for the upcoming feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Members of the general government were given a guided tour by one of the community’s friars to a number of the more significant spots in the Santuario where St. Francis lived, suffered and received the stigmata.
