In a significant online meeting, the General Government convened with the Major Superiors of the Congregation on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The meeting, which commenced at 14:00, opened with a prayer. It was moderated by Fr Carlos Sanchez, CMF, who welcomed the participants and outlined the program of the meeting. Father General, Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, began the session with an inspiring message of hope, referencing recent global events such as the health recovery of Pope Francis among others. He also addressed various global challenges, including wars, political polarization, migration crises, religious persecution, misinformation, and hunger.
Providing a comprehensive overview of the Congregation’s current state, Fr. General highlighted key themes from the recent intensive sessions of the General Government. These included the establishment of the Ave Maria province, announcement about St. Jean Paul II as an Independent delegation, the creation of new houses and residences, budget approvals, Jubilee year activities, and the publication of new books. He emphasized the importance of nurturing vocations and strengthening commitment to universal mission. The meeting featured a presentation of comparative statistics on personnel, houses, and residences across different Conferences as well as the synthesis culled from the major superiors’ report about interculturality and universal mission.
This was followed by an open forum whereby participants discussed the challenges and benefits of interculturality, the importance of intergenerational rapport, and the need for cultural integration and language proficiency in pastoral work. The meeting concluded with final remarks from the Vicar General and a closing prayer.
