Kuravilangad, Inde. From 29-30 May 2012 the members of the St. Thomas Province of the Claretians celebrated the General Assembly with the active participation of its members.

After a brief self introduction of the members the provincial government presented a report of its animation and economic activities for 2011-12. The participants shared their life experiences in communities and their pastoral and social activities.

On 30 Rev. Dr. Sebastian Kuzhakkeyil, MST enlightened the assembly on “Doing Mission in the 21 Century as Religious and Missionaries of the Syro-Malabar Church”. He highlighted that the mission is the preparation to proclaim, perspire to testify, persevere to call to faith, and perpetuate the Thomasine zeal for Christ in the style of Claret. He spoke of the mission in the OT, NT, Mission in the teaching of the Church, Mission History of the Syro-Malabar Church, Context of India, our hurdles and challenges, and mission spirituality.

The New Pastoral Plan of the Province was released during the assembly (in the picture). It is the fruit of hard work of Fr Jose Kidangayil, Prefect of Apostlate, and the council of Apostolate and mission.

Forge in our Daily Life was again given importance explaining the year of Patris Mei with its five objectives and need of faithfully following the spiritual exercise in our religious and missionary life. There were 76 participants including 45 priests and 31 students. It was a family coming together as the members could share their common Claretian missionary journey in the province and continue in the family spirit for the service of the province and of the congregation.

Another notable feature was the participation of the Mozambique Claretians. They presented their missionary activities and life in the South Eastern African region.
