In an effort to address the growing concerns regarding cyber threats and the need for digital security in educational institutions, Principals and Administrators from various educational institutions in Bangalore Province gathered for a seminar on Cyber Security and Digital Documentation. The event took place at the Provincial Curia Malleswaram on June 3, 2023.
Organized by the Prefect of Apostolate and Missions, the seminar aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to handle the demands of institutions in the digital age. Leading the seminar, Fr. Joso Tharakan, IMS, guided the attendees in understanding the importance of preparedness in dealing with cyber threats. He highlighted various types of cyber threats and emphasized the need for robust security measures to safeguard against potential dangers.
The seminar also focused on the significant load of digital documentation required in educational institutions and explored strategies to protect it from possible loss and threats. Fr. Joson emphasized the need for institutions to implement effective data backup and recovery systems to ensure the preservation and integrity of crucial information.
In addition to cyber security, the seminar addressed the immediate needs of educational institutions in providing quality and affordable education to students. Fr. Benny Cheruthottupuram, the Education Ministry Facilitator of the province, engaged participants in discussions aimed at identifying ways to meet these needs effectively.
The seminar saw the active participation of 12 Principals and Administrators from various educational institutions. The provincial government also took part in the event, demonstrating its commitment to supporting and addressing the challenges faced by educational institutions in the province.
On the other hand, in another educational development, the St. Thomas Province held a meeting of all educators at Claret Bhavan Kuravilangad on May 28, 2023. Presided over by Rev. Fr. Siby Njavallikkunnel CMF, the Provincial Superior, the meeting aimed to recognize and appreciate the achievements of the school communities in the academic year 2022-23. It was lauded that all schools under the province achieved 100% results in both Secondary and Higher Secondary levels.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around various matters pertaining to education and school management in the changing scenario. The educators also deliberated on the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. The provincial council conducted a separate meeting with all the school communities, providing an opportunity to address specific issues and tasks faced by individual schools.
The seminar and the educators’ meeting highlight the proactive approach of educational institutions in adapting to the digital landscape, ensuring the safety of sensitive data and delivering exceptional education to students.
