Formia, Italy. The Claretian Missionaries of the General Curia have embarked on a spiritual retreat from September 25th to 29th, 2023 in the coastal town of Formia, situated approximately two hours from Rome. The Spiritual Exercises were guided by Fr. Antonio Bellella CMF, the director of the Theological Institute of Religious Life (ITVR) in Madrid.
Among the participants were members of the General Government, individuals responsible for different congregational services such as General Postulation and Administration, as well as some missionaries residing in Rome who are pursuing specialized studies. Fr. Rosendo Urrabazo, CMF, of USA-Canada Province, who will conduct the Canonical Visitation to the General Curia community, also joined them.
The Constitutions of the Congregation emphasize the importance of practicing Spiritual Exercises “in a special way and with due care” every year. The General Curia community, in keeping with this sacred tradition, thoughtfully sets aside several days for this retreat at the end of September. This timing is especially significant, as it precedes the commencement of the academic year, during which half of its members return to the universities and the General Government embarks on its intensive councils in October.
