Biblical Formation on Lectio Divina

Apr 5, 2022 | Bible Ministry, Indonesia - Timor Leste

Kupang, Indonesia. In realizing the Congregational as well as Delegation Dream and commitments mandated by the XXVI General Chapter, Indonesia-Timor Leste Independent Delegation held a webinar on Biblical Formation on Lectio Divina given by Rev. Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, General Prefect of Bible Ministry and Communication on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, through Zoom platform.

The webinar was participated by all professed members of the Delegation, including those in formation houses from the aspirants to the theology students. Drawing from the root word “lectio” (reading), “divina” (divine), Fr. Henry helped the participants to grow in the experience of reading the Word of God in the attitude of a disciple, one who is always eager to learn from his Master, in communion with him and ready to be sent.

“The objective of Lectio Divina,” he said, “to promote communion with God and increase the knowledge about the word of God.” And this we can practice personally, communally, and with the People of God (cf. QC 54).

The participants were very enthusiastic to follow the webinar, and this impression can be seen through their participation in raising questions and clarifications during the sessions. At the end of the session, Fr. Valens Agino, CMF, Delegation Major Superior, expressed his profound gratitude to Fr. Henry for his generosity and availability to guide the Delegation in cultivating the classic tradition of practicing Lectio Divina as part of their missionary journey in realizing the Congregational Dream and commitment, “We dream like Claret of a Congregation that, following the example of Mary, treasures in its heart, fulfills and proclaims the Word of God.” (QC 51). To practice that dream, “…. We will practice Lectio Divina personally, communally and with the People of God.” (QC 54).
