Tewatta, Sri Lanka. A renewal program for the Claretian Missionaries aged 55-60 of the ASCLA West region commenced at Tewatta Retreat House. This five-day program, running from February 17 to 21, 2025, aimed at fostering spiritual rejuvenation and reinforcing the missionaries’ commitment to their mission.
A total of 33 participants from five major Organisms, with the exception of Calcutta, were actively engaging in this renewal experience. The program was centered on the theme “Renewed in Spirit, Strengthened for Mission.”
Providing spiritual guidance and theological insights, Mgr. Joseph Vianney Fernando, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kandy, along with Fr. Selvaratnam, OMI, served as the resource persons. Their sessions truly inspired and empowered the participants as they continue their missionary endeavours. While Bishop Emeritus gave some insights for the participants from the life of St. Joseph Vaz, the patron of Sri Lanka, connecting to the life of our founder St. Antony Mary Claret, Fr. Selvaratnam, OMI, challenged and encouraged the participants by inviting them to be focused on Contemplative prayer.
The renewal programme offered a unique opportunity for these seasoned missionaries to deepen their faith, reflect on their vocations, and equip themselves with renewed zeal for their missionary endeavours.
