Córdoba, Argentina. On Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 18:00 hrs at the San Antonio María Claret Vicariate, in the neighborhood of Los Boulevares, in Córdoba, Deacon Daniel Ortiz, CMF was ordained with the imposition of priestly Orders by Bishop Juan José Chaparro, CMF.
The celebration was attended by Claretian Missionaries coming from Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Rosario and all the communities of Córdoba, headed by the Provincial Superior of the Province of San José del Sur, Fr. Mario Gutiérrez Medina, CMF, as well as a large number of relatives and friends who traveled with great joy and enthusiasm from their native Mendoza.
The Gospel that illuminated the celebration was that of the Good Samaritan who “as he passed by him, he saw him and was moved” (Lk 10:33), with which Daniel wanted to point out the call that God makes to him, and to each one of us, to be moved by the needs of those who are on the side of the road.
After the beautiful celebration, all the attendees proceeded to the CEFyT, where a pleasant reception was offered, and in which a video specially prepared by Daniel’s family and friends was presented, in which they expressed their joy for the important step he has taken; and they also enjoyed a beautiful presentation of the Corazón de María ballet, formed by young university students who participate in the community of Tambo CUC, in the center of Córdoba.
The following day, at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2022, together with the whole community of the Vicarage of Barrio Los Boulevares, his relatives and friends from Mendoza and his Claretian brothers, Fr. Daniel celebrated his First Mass, which on the fourth Sunday of Easter gives us the Gospel of the Good Shepherd, perhaps a “Dioscidence” as some call those coincidences guided by God, since John 10, 27-30 presents Jesus as the Good Shepherd, just the day in which “Dani” begins this beautiful ministry of shepherding in our Church.
We thank God because He continues to show us His generosity. He continues to send workers to His vineyard, so that we can announce the Good News of the Kingdom and its justice as Father Claret dreamed. Let us continue praying for vocations, so that those who are already there may be persevering and faithful to the call, and that the Lord may invite new young people to join the paths of the mission.
