Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. On March 13, 2021, Student Jesús Martínez Lara, CMF, of the Province of Mexico, received the diaconate from the hands of the diocesan bishop Don J. Guadalupe Torres Campos, in a celebration held in the parish of Our Lady of Hope.
Present at the celebration were the ordinand’s family members and brothers and sisters of the congregation. In his homily, the bishop focused on the call to the configuration with Christ; he expressed:
“each day is a step towards this configuration that is transformed into concrete vocations. Jesús Martínez Lara, today that will be ordained deacon, is called to serve God in each one of his brothers”.
The bishop also highlighted the two aspects that the Gospel warns in reference to those called to service, that is, not to be tyrants or oppressors:
“We must serve with love, with joy. The Pope invites us to work in fraternity, in friendship among all. Thus, the deacon must serve everyone without distinction, serve the neediest, serve Christ in his brother”.
At the conclusion of the Eucharist, an agape was offered to those present, always respecting the sanitary measures.
