Fresno, California. In a vibrant celebration of faith and community, the Young Adult Ministry known as Catholics In Action (CIA) at St. Anthony Claret Parish in Fresno marked its one-year anniversary. Under the nurturing guidance of Alicia Meza, Director of Religious Education, and the unwavering support of Fr. Agustin Carrillo, CMF, CIA has grown into a sanctuary for young adults seeking to deepen their connection with Christ and with one another.
Throughout the past year, CIA has become a cornerstone of faith, community, and personal growth for young adults in the Fresno area. This dedicated group has fostered a welcoming environment where participants can explore their spirituality, build meaningful relationships, and find support in their faith journey.
A recent highlight of CIA’s activities was a retreat held in Oakhurst, California, from June 7th to 9th, 2024. This retreat provided a much-needed respite from the daily distractions and responsibilities, allowing the young adults to focus on their spiritual development. Themed “Letting Go,” the retreat encouraged participants to release the burdens and barriers that hinder their relationship with Christ. Through communal activities and personal reflection, the young adults discovered new ways to invite God into their daily lives.
The retreat concluded with a transformative visit to Yosemite National Park. For many participants, this was their first encounter with the park’s incredible beauty. The journey through Yosemite allowed the young adults to connect with God’s creation, admiring at the majestic waterfalls and exploring new territories. The experience was both awe-inspiring and spiritually uplifting.
The immersion in nature culminated in a special liturgy celebration in the heart of the forest. This unique setting for worship, followed by a communal picnic, reinforced the group’s sense of community and their connection to God’s creation. The liturgy and shared meal in such a serene and majestic environment left a lasting impact on all who attended.
