Morogoro, Tanzania. On October 18th and 19th, 2024, five Claretian brothers from the St. Charles Lwanga Independent Delegation of East Africa—Amani Aristede, Vincent Abigaba, Desire Bushiri, James Kanakulya, and Landus Bwambale—reached significant stages in their vocational journeys through their perpetual profession and diaconate ordination.
The perpetual profession ceremony, held on October 18th at the Martyrs of Barbastro Formation House in Morogoro, Tanzania, marked their formal and lifelong commitment to the congregation. During this sacred rite, they professed perpetual vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, publicly embracing their call to live in the spirit of St. Anthony Mary Claret in the hands of Fr. Joy Mampillikunnel, CMF, the Major Superior.
The following day, on October 19th, they were ordained to the diaconate at the Jordan University Chapel in Morogoro, Tanzania by His Lordship Bishop Henry Mchamungu, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Dar-es-Salaam, joined by 25 other candidates from various congregations. In his homily, Bishop Mchamungu highlighted the diaconate as a ministry of service rooted in the love of Christ and dedicated to the mission of the Church.
These momentous occasions embody the congregation’s ongoing commitment to the Gospel and dedication to serving communities in need, in the tradition of St. Anthony Mary Claret. Both ceremonies were attended by a wide representation of the Claretian family, local clergy, religious, and lay faithful, who joined in prayer and celebration as these brothers were consecrated to a life of service in the Church.
