Medellin, Colombia. The General Government and members of the Governments of the different Major Organisms of MICLA who are currently having their meeting in Medellin, witnessed on Sunday, 8th December 2019, of the diaconate ordination conferred by Msgr. Oscar José Vélez Isaza, CMF, Bishop of Valledupar, to Sch. Francisco Javier Peña Herrera, CMF and Sch. Over De Jesus Mercado Mendoza, CMF of the Province of Colombia – Venezuela, at the Jesús Nazareno Parish.
During his homily, Msgr. Oscar invited the ordinands to do their ministry in the example of the Nazarene. They must cultivate attitudes of humility, generosity and mercy. He further said that all the vocations in the Church, specially that of the diaconate, is inspired in the example of Jesus who came not to be served but to be served.
Words of gratitude were expressed after the imposition of the hands, at the end of the ceremonies. Father General, Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, in the name of the whole Congregation, thanked the newly ordained deacons for their generous response to the call. Colombia-Venezuela Provincial Superior, Fr. Armando Valencia, CMF thanked the ordaining bishop, the Claretians present, families, relatives and friends of the ordinands.
