Priestly Ordination of Rev. Cletus Mwilitsa Murunga, CMF

Kerwa, Kenya. On the Saturday of November 30, 2019, Deacon Cletus Mwilitsa Murunga, CMF was ordained a priest by Msgr. Rodrigo Mejía Saldarriaga, S.J., Titular Bishop of Vulturia and Vicar Emeritus of Soddo (Ethiopia), in a colorful celebration which took place in St Joseph Parish, Kerwa in the Archdiocese of Nairobi -Kenya. The Major Superior of St. Charles Lwanga Delegation, Fr. John Francis D., CMF and the Delegation’s Prefect of Apostolate, Fr. Athanasius Madu, CMF, concelebrated during the Mass. The day was also graced by the presence of a significant number of Claretian Missionaries, lay people, family and friends.

In his homily, the bishop highlighted the significance of a total commitment to the priestly ministry understood in the light of integral evangelization. Pointing out the danger of falling into the duality of commitment to the service ‘spiritual’ as of it is separated from the ‘social’ reality of the people of God , he exhorted Cletus Mwilitsa Murunga to commit himself to the discovery and sharing of the abundant richness of the sacraments the dividends of which must find their culmination in the service of the people of God in their concrete existential contexts.

After words of wisdom and thanksgivings from the Bishop, the Major superior and other local church leaders the celebrations which stared at 10.00 am came to end at 1.30. it was followed by a short and entertaining program which included sharing of meals and drinks until 4.00pm. He celebrated his First Mass on Sunday, December 1st, in the same parish of St Joseph Parish, Kerwa in the Archdiocese of Nairobi -Kenya.
