Discernment Encounter for Young People in Puerto Rico

Nov 13, 2019 | Antillas, Youth & Vocations Ministry

Bayamón, Puerto Rico. From November 9 to 10, 2019, a group of 23 young people from the Claretian communities of Puerto Rico and surrounding areas, gathered at Casa Claret Mission, to hold the first of a series of meetings for young people in search for the greater Love.

In three days, the experience was hoped to be as the starting point of a path of discernment that will continue as an ordinary proposal in life. The first meeting focused on the fundamental questions in life: Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going? From these three questions the young people could deepen on what is the mission of God for their life, what is their place in the world, and what is the project of happiness that God has for each of them.

A team from the Claretian Family: Fr. Luís Enrique Ortiz, CMF, Sr. Lidia Alcantara, RMI, and several Lay Claretians accompanied the participants during these days of discernment. The young people delved into the approaches of the meeting, through dialogues, activities, reflections, prayers and, above all, through the experience of community life, up to being challenged by a path of discernment in which they can be guided by a companion to help them learn the key elements in discerning in community life.

The gathering aimed at going out to meet young people and enable them to listen to the Lord’s call, just as the declaration of the XXV General Chapter (cf. MS 68) and the Apostolic Missionary Project of Antillas Independent Delegation summons us.
