Maryland Nekede Owerri, Nigeria. From 15 to 20 September 2019, the members of East Nigeria Province gathered for their annual retreat at Maryland Nekede Owerri. The retreat was moderated by the Capuchin priest, Fr. Cosmas Uzowulu. He emphasized the call to holiness of life, fidelity to the religious vows, and consciousness of the things that truly endure and not the peripheral and fleeting things of the world.
During the retreat, the confreres prayed for specific intentions of the missionaries and the Province. It was also a time used for the blessing of the newly completed Claret Academy (Secondary School) hostel located at Area ‘A’ New Owerri. The Provincial Superior, Fr. Simeon Nwobi, CMF, blessed the new hostel in the presence of the priests, students and workers.
The retreat came to an end with the celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass for the members of the Province who marked their priestly silver jubilee anniversary this year. They include Most Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, Frs. Perpetus Igwe, Antoninius Ajaegbu, and David Okeke, CMFF. It was really a time of renewal for the members of the Organism.
