Brazil. On May 9, at 3:00 p.m., the work of the Ave Maria Press was stopped to commemorate the 110th anniversary of its creation, which will be next May 28.
We thought of making two celebrations: one with the employees of the graphics, who are more than 600 at present, and another of a wider and more open character. We had a Mass presided over by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Oswair Chiozini. It was solemnized with the chorale of the graphics, established last year by the seminarian Vagner.
In his homily Fr. Provincial emphasized the importance of the missionary work carried out mainly through the Ave Maria magazine and other publications, including the Bible, which next year will celebrate its 50 years of publication. He had a remembrance of so many Claretians and lay Missionaries who spent their lives in this great medium of evangelization, some old hands of whom were present, like Bro. Joaquim de Castro who, for almost 40 years worked restlessly for the magazine and the publishing house, Fr. Nestor Zatt, sick today in Batatais, who was at the head of the Ave María group for more than 31 years and carried out great changes, in the Editorial as well as in the Graphics.
