Salamanca, Spain. Today the Council of the Faculty of Philosophy of Salamanca (UPSA) elected by “by absolute majority” the professor Ildefonso Murillo Murillo, CMF, as the new dean of the Faculty.
Fr. Murillo, born in Quintanar de la Rioja, is a professed religious of the Claretian Congregation since 1960. He has a degree of Doctor in humanities by the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid.
As a professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science, Ildefonso Murillo has given lectures in the Claretian Theological School, in the Catholic University of Concepción (Chile), in the University of Granada, the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, and the Pontifical University of Comillas.
At present he is the director of the Institute of Latin American thought (IPI) of the UPSA. He is the author of books such as ‘El sentido de la ciencia en Leibniz’ (The sense of Science in Leibniz), ‘Persona y rostro del otro’ (Person and face of the other), ‘Ciencia’ (Science), ‘Persona y Fe Cristiana’ (Person and Christian Faith) or ‘Método. Filosofía’ (Method. Philosophy) and is the founder of the magazine ‘Diálogo Filosófico’ (Philosophical Dialogue) which he directed since 1985 to 2003.
