Negombo, Sri Lanka. On January 30, 2019, Sri Lanka Dependent Delegation blessed and opened St. Claret Center which will serve as its Administrative Building (Curia) and the building for its Publications. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo was the one who blessed and opened the house as well as the chapel. During the occasion, Archbishop Ranjith iterated and appreciated the service rendered by the Claretian Missionaries in this island nation. He made a special mention of the print ministry the Congregation.
Shortly, General Superior Fr. Mathew Vatamattam, CMF who is on a visit to Sri Lanka, presided over the first Holy Eucharist in the newly blessed chapel together with Fr. Callistus Joseph, the Provincial Superior of Deutschand, in the presence of the Claretian Family in Sri Lanka and some well-wishers.
This house, in its former shape, was the first community of Claretian Missionaries in Sri Lanka which was established on the 24 October 1992. Since, then many historical events took place on this residence and later, it housed the Claretian Publications.
Towards the end of 2019, Sri Lanka Dependent Delegation will be raised and erected as an Independent Delegation to its mother Province of Deutschland (of whom they are very much grateful).
