Enugu, Nigeria. The project of the Theological Institute of Consecrated Life in Africa which is located in Abuja, Nigeria is gradually coming to its full realization. As part of the steps to this realization, the 2nd international Conference on Consecrated Life organized from 13th – 16th November. The theme of this year’s conference is “Collaborative Ministry in Mission”. The Team composed of different Claretians in ACLA and in collaboration with other religious institutes has Fr Peter Okonwo, CMF as the Chairman.
This year’s participants included representatives from 32 different Religious Institutes and some Diocesan Priests. Rev Fr Henry Omonisaye, CMF, General Consultor in-charge of the Institutes of Consecrated Life of the Congregation who has been accompanying the project on the part of the General Government presented the Mission and Vision of TICLA. The paper presentations and group discussions centered on: the Biblical, Eccelsia, African perspectives of Collaboration and the necessary skills from effective collaboration. One of the novelties of this year’s conference is the participation of some Diocesan Priests. and the Secretary General of the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria. This provided a platform for dialogue between the Religious and the Diocesan Priest on how collaborative ministry within the Church can be improved upon.
The conference ended with an appreciation of the initiative of the Congregation in started this Institute of Consecrate Life in Africa.
