BREAD OF LIFE
Food and drink are primary needs of human beings throughout their life on earth. Also animals and plants need these nutrients so that they do not die, but grow and develop until their natural, or at times, untimely death.
Also in human beings there is a core of spiritual subsistence, which is the Eucharist, and, within that, the communion. It is impossible to grasp, with our senses, the significance and the vital need for this great sacrament that is necessary and essential, if you want to lead a spiritually healthy life and to be confident with a divine force, that doesn’t feed the body, but rather the depths of the soul of every believer.
It is very important for us–for those who believe, hope and love – this divine delicacy, “bread of Angels”, that leads us to holiness and eternal life. Think about it and decide to receive Holy Communion frequently, at least on Sundays and, if possible, every day.
Our friend and brother Claret teaches us to be deeply devoted to the Eucharist. It was so from childhood and that devotion grew progressively throughout his life. How good it would be to be able to also experience ourselves that which he says of himself in those years of pure spiritual maturity, full of mystical experiences. “When I am before the Blessed Sacrament, I feel such a lively faith that I can’t describe it. Christ in the Eucharist is almost tangible to me; I kiss his wounds continually and embrace Him. When it’s time for me to leave, I have to tear myself away from his sacred presence.” (Aut 767).
