Yaoundé, Cameroon. Around thirty young Claretian Missionaries participated in the traditional quinquennium ongoing formation from January 3-6, 2024. It was a moment, not only of reunion between young confreres scattered in various regions of the country but also of prayer and reflection on the theme “Contemplating Christ in the Gospels.”
The young missionaries gathered at the Casa Claret Curia of the Delegation in Nkolbisson actively participated in the formation program. The seminar officially opened on the morning of January 4 with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Major Superior, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, CMF. During his homily, Father Jude addressed the young brothers and reminded them of the importance and impact of their missionary actions. He emphasized the significance of contemplating the face of Christ in the Gospels and meditating on the life, teachings, and actions of Jesus as described in the Gospels. By doing so, missionaries can find inspiration, strength, and guidance for their mission work. This can help them develop a deeper understanding of compassion, unconditional love, selfless service, and perseverance, essential virtues for Claretians who work to spread the faith and serve others.
Before the final blessing, the Major Superior delivered his inaugural address, officially opening the session. During his speech, he congratulated the confreres responsible for the ongoing formation and emphasized the significance of these moments of communion.
It was a real moment of exchange, prayer, and relaxation between brothers. The attendees were grateful to the Major Superior, his Council, and the elders for hosting them in a fraternal atmosphere. The 2024 Quinquennium ended with closing remarks from Fr. Théophile Parfait Yene, CMF, the Delegation Vicar and Prefect of Formation. He thanked Father André Théophile Okala, CMF, and his team for organizing the event and challenged the participants to improve the quality of Claretian community life in their various missions.
