Bahia Blanca, Argentina. This year Colegio Claret of Bahia Blanca celebrates the 50th anniversary of its foundation.
Begun in 1909 in Bahia Blanca, the Claretians inaugurated a hall in the parish house which was used as a chapel. In 1951 the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was created. At the beginning of the 1960’s a group of laity proposed to the Congregation the creation of a co-ed school which was set in concrete on February 5, 1962 with a small kindergarten. In 1963 it grew into a Primary school, and in 1970 the Secondary was added.
Since then, this project has grown with the contribution of the Educational Community and the Congregation, with a particular imprint: the Spirit of Family, that offers the Bahiense Community an environment in which the values of the Gospel are promoted from the Claretian charism.
Currently the College has 1350 pupils. In addition to the regular pastoral collaboration by the Claretian Missionaries of the parish, other Claretians from the Province share some special offerings with the school, such as the vocational week, the missionary week, etc.
In October, coinciding with the Claretian Week, they will have celebrations centered on the 50th anniversary of the School.
