Abuja, Nigeria. The long-awaited dream of the Claretian Missionaries in Africa to have an Institute of Consecrated Life has finally been realized today, October 5, 2021. Indeed, a great work has begun in the Church for the consecrated persons, the lay faithful and the Claretian Missionaries, especially in Africa.
The event began with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by the Nuncio, His Excellency, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi. Augustine O Akubueze, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), also graced the event with his presence, as well as Bishops Wilfred Anagbe, CMF of the Diocese of Makurdi and Hilary Dachelem, CMF of the Diocese of Bauchi, and other Claretian brothers and consecrated persons. Also present were the traditional leaders and local chiefs where the institute is located.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the Archbishop Augustine O Akubueze, Archbishop of Benin, blessed and inaugurated the new administrative block, while the Nuncio, Bishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, blessed and inaugurated the hostel. Bishop Anagbe Wilfred, CMF, blessed and unveiled the statue of our founding father, St. Anthony Mary Claret, beautifully placed in the center of the Institute.
We pray that this great work that the Lord initiated in the life of the Claretian Missionaries in Africa, and in the Church today, may continue to empower and accompany consecrated persons in the Church for a greater understanding of the Gospel message. Amen!
