Diaconate Ordination in Kumbo, Cameroon

Oct 29, 2021 | ACLA, Cameroun, Ordinations

Kumbo, Cameroon. Thursday 28 October was a day of joy and celebration for the Claretian Missionaries and the people of God in the Diocese of Kumbo. This day saw the birth of a new deacon in the Delegation of Cameroon, in the person of Martin Hervé Ndi Nkoumou, cmf. The ordination took place in Kumbo at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Parish Tobin, through the laying of hands of His Lordship George Nkuo, Bishop of Kumbo.

The ceremony was heavily attended by priests, religious and lay faithful from the Diocese and beyond. Kumbo Diocese is situated in a zone that is highly affected by the armed conflict present in the Northwest and Southwest Region of Cameroon. It is a precarious situation that has led to the kidnapping of many people. In the month of August 2019, two claretians were kidnapped and violently assaulted.

The bishop, in his exhortation, thanked Claretians for the missionary zeal shown in this periphery despite all the challenges from the ongoing socio-political unrest. It is worth noting that Claretians have been in this Diocese since the year 2010. Despite the war situation and even being victims of kidnapping, the claretian missionaries have never left the mission. At the end of the Mass, the Major Superior of Cameroon, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Langeh, cmf, thanked the bishop and all the diocesan church for the mark of synodality and collaboration with our missionaries.

Presently, the Claretians have taken up a new mission in Upper Mbot where they are serving the people of God with joy. Four claretians serve in this Diocese: Fr. Emeran Mba, cmf; Fr. Jude Niba, cmf; Deacon Martin Herve, cmf and Br. David Onana, cmf. We wish Martin Hervé Ndi Nkoumou, cmf, and all the claretians working in Kumbo much courage as they serve the people of God in this periphery.
